March 19 - 22 David Garrigues
The Art of Vinyasa Asana, Pranayama and Chanting
This retreat will facilitate an understanding of how to use breath and vinyasa (sequencing) to let go and experience the purity and flow of NOW. Classes will emphasize sequencing of Sun Salutations, standing postures, forward and back bends, hip opening and restorative asanas, as well as highlighting Bandhas, the five Vayus, Ujjayi Pranayama. Along with Kirtan (Devotional chanting), there will be stories from Indian mythology, The Upanishads and Poetry. David will present different options within each sequence so that each participant can flow according to their unique sacred center.
David Garrigues has been investigating the Art of Yoga for the past 16 years; how to utilize the energy of Prana inside the body and mind in order to abide in one’s sacred center. David has studied extensively with Sri K. Pattabhis. He has a rare Ashtanga Yoga teaching certificate and is director of the Ashtanga Yoga School in Seattle. He has also studied with Richard Freeman, and Iyengar Yoga teachers, Aadil Palkhivala and Ramanand Patel. David brings joyous knowledge of asana, pranayama, music, alignment, Indian philosophy and mythology and tantric imagery to his teaching.
